A middle aged gentleman approached Health Action NM wanting to know EVERYTHING there was to know about the Affordable Care Act (ACA) as his mother was ill and she was going to need surgery in the next few months. His family could not afford the surgery and he said the ACA was their only hope. After the ACA was explained, he was surprised at how political this issue is. “What can we do as a community?,” he asked. “Give me all the numbers of all legislators, senators and the Governor’s office number so I can start calling… I don’t know how many people are gonna call, but I know I’m gonna call everyone I know and pass the word along and I know I will make a difference. I would have never gotten involved in this ACA process if it wasn’t for my mother who’s very ill.”
