Helpful ISD Staff Steps Up to the Plate!

Joe Martinez 1711 Randolph, SE Albuquerque created on Mon October 21, 2013

Joe Martinez, HANM’s Education and Outreach Coordinator visited the ISD office at 1711 Randolph SE, ABQ (close to the airport) on October 1. 2013.

Joe says, “The lead staff member, Patricia, was helpful when asked how things are going in enrolling applicants for health coverage. She explained that they are doing enrollment for current Medicaid program, but they can handle new applicants for the Medicaid program that will be part of the Medicaid expansion. She called this category the "other adult program."  She told Joe, "We are using a new application form that came out today. It doesn't have as many categories as before."  Joe asked her, "What are you telling persons who apply for the Medicaid expansion?  Do they know they will be enrolled for the Medicaid expansion?"   She responded, "We explain that they will know in 45 days what the decision is on their enrollment.  And we explain the health services don't start until Jan. 1."

Joe then asked her if they were doing enrollment for the Health Insurance Exchange?   She said, "Several have come by wanting to enroll in the Exchange.  We give them the web site to do that. We are referring them to the web site."  Joe felt as though she was very helpful and before leaving he thanked her for her positive approach to helping persons wishing to enroll.
